What is Biomaterial？

Biomaterials are collectively referred as biobased plastics and biodegradable plastics: Bio-based plastics: plastics derived from renewable resources. Unlike traditional plastics, bio-based polymers are derived from renewable resources such as sugar, starch, vegetable oil, and cellulose. Among them, corn, sugar cane, grain and wood are the most commonly used raw materials. Biodegradable Plastics are plastics that can be completely digested by microorganisms in the treatment system as food to gain energy (into the food chain). This complete microbiological digestion/utilization is determined by testing whether the carbon of the test plastic is fully converted to CO2 by the microbial processes. Not all degradable materials are 100% biodegradable. Green Star Bio-based raw materials and products have passed multiple certification standards. Bio-based plastics must be certified to comply with ASTM D6866 as a bio-based material. Biodegradable plastics must be compostable in accordance with ASTM D6400, EN13432.
